Sick! Rest day today.

Well, I've actually felt way better today, but I was quite sick yesterday night.

So I woke up, second day with a sore throat. Got dressed, went to a church gig to sing (poorly), then came home and had lunch. I got all the way through my workouts and did better than last week! Anyway, that's where it started to go downhill.

We went out grocery shopping and I felt like my energy was being sapped. I was burning up. I got water from the vending machine in Costco and when we got home I did manage to make P90X pesto (which is DELICIOUS) for dinner. Anyway, I really felt like a fever was happening. I made a doctor's appointment at a nighttime clinic.

Turns out I have an ear infection and at that point I had a fever of 102.

Good news and bad news? Good news is it'll go away fast so I'll be good for Tuesday. Bad news is it's only the SECOND week and I have to skip a day.

No worries though. After chatting with several people, I've decided to count today as my rest day for the week and work through my typical Saturday rest day. Kenpo surprisingly felt like the lowest impact cardio workout of the three so I'm not worried about recovering effectively on that day.

Back to it tomorrow, and I'm going full force!

  1. So Matt. I've been doing a little more research and what not. I forgot that the reason I decided to eat a 1400 calorie diet was because I was reading a website dedicated to HIIT, and they suggested eating at your RMR to lose fat fast when doing HIIT. I just never changed it after I started lifting weights, which was my mistake.

I was feeling faint and weak during my cardio sessions, and yesterday, I was so hungry, eating didn't even satiate me for 5 minutes, I was immediately hungry. I read Lyle McDonald's Ultimate Diet 2.0, and even though it's a little extreme for me to follow, it did give good science regarding diet.

I raised my calories to maintenance, which is about 1750, according to Lyle's calculations. I'll just have to stay on this for a couple of weeks to balance my metabolism out, and see if i gain any weight on my regular exercise program. If yes, I'll lower calories, if no, I'll raise calories.

What a pain in the ass, Matt.

Anyway, I'm sorry about your ear infection. Get better soon!
